Neocutis SA

Neocutis®

growth-factor and peptide skincare line

Neocutis is a Swiss-developed skincare line built around a proprietary ingredient the company calls PSP, short for Processed Skin Cell Proteins, a mixture of growth factors and other proteins produced by a laboratory-grown culture of skin cells. The company was founded in 2003, growing out of research at the University Hospital of Lausanne into whether substances made by cultured skin cells could help wounds heal. The cell culture behind PSP was established from a single donated human skin-tissue sample, and the company states that this one original donation continues to supply its manufacturing. Neocutis was acquired by the German pharmaceutical company Merz Pharma (marketed today through Merz Aesthetics) in 2013, and its products are sold as cosmetics, not as FDA-approved drugs.
