BTL Industries
Exion™
radiofrequency and ultrasound skin platform, used at this practice for RF microneedling
Exion is a multi-handpiece skin platform from BTL Industries, the same company that makes Emsculpt Neo, Emface and Emsella. BTL introduced it in the U.S. in April 2023 and gave it a separate public launch event in the U.K. in February 2024. The platform combines monopolar radiofrequency (a form of heat energy) with targeted ultrasound, delivered into the skin at the same time, and BTL sells several interchangeable handpieces built around that combination: a Face handpiece and a Body handpiece for non-invasive skin tightening, a Fractional RF (microneedling) handpiece that delivers the radiofrequency energy through fine needles inserted into the skin, and an Emfemme 360 handpiece for intimate-health applications. UDERMA uses the Fractional RF microneedling handpiece from the Exion platform. It does not offer Morpheus8, which is a separate RF microneedling device from a different manufacturer, InMode Ltd. Exion's non-microneedling handpieces build on FDA clearances BTL already held for radiofrequency skin heating and temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite; secondary sources describe the Exion platform as FDA-cleared, generally citing 2023, but this research could not independently confirm the exact 510(k) clearance number or date specific to the Exion-branded microneedling handpiece.
