Emface®

non-invasive facial toning device using radiofrequency and electrical muscle stimulation

Emface is made by BTL Industries, the same company behind Emsculpt Neo, Emsella and Exion. It is applied to the face rather than the body, and it works by delivering two energies to the skin and muscle at the same time: synchronized radiofrequency, which gently warms the skin's collagen- and elastin-containing layer, and HIFES (high-intensity focused electrical stimulation), which causes the small muscles of the face to contract repeatedly. There are no needles and no injections; the device is applied with pads over the treatment area. BTL announced the U.S. commercial release of Emface in September 2022, marketed for the temporary reduction in the appearance of facial wrinkles and toning of facial muscles, with Eye and Submentum (under-chin) applicators added later for the eye area and the area under the chin. In August 2025, BTL announced an expanded FDA clearance for Emface covering temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and associated jaw pain, muscle re-education, local blood flow and mandibular range of motion, in addition to its original cosmetic use. It differs from Emsculpt Neo and Exion in that it pairs radiofrequency with electrical muscle stimulation for the face, rather than electromagnetic stimulation (Emsculpt Neo) or radiofrequency plus ultrasound with microneedling (Exion).
